How to Apply

The School of Podiatric Medicine participates in the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine Application Service (AACPMAS). First-year and international students should submit an online application for the DPM program. AACPMAS allows first-year and nontransfer applicants only to complete a single set of forms for use at all of the colleges of podiatric medicine to which they apply. In addition to the AACPMAS, the following materials are required.

Supporting Materials for First-year Students

Letter of Recommendation

Recommendations are required for admittance to the program. Applicants should obtain either one letter from a Pre-health Advisory Committee or a combination of two letters, one from science faculty and another from a podiatric physician.

TUSPM participates in Interfolio and Virtual Evals. Students have the option of utilizing either of these services or having the author of the letters mail documents directly to

Standardized Test Scores

Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) scores are released to AACPMAS. Exam results are valid up to three years prior to start of current application cycle. Recently, MCAT total scores of accepted applicants have averaged 498.

It is recommended that applicants take the standardized exam prior to February of the entering year; however, exam results will be accepted through June of the entering year.

Interviews

Interview invitations will be issued on a rolling basis to applicants based on their academic credentials, qualitative experiences and their required essay. Applicants may attend an in-person, on-campus interview or choose to participate in a remote interview.

In-person Interview
In-person interviews will start at 8:30 a.m. with an information session on academic support, the curriculum, externship options, housing and student resources.

The information session will be followed by a tour of the Foot and Ankle Institute where candidates will spend an hour at the clinic shadowing faculty as they provide clinical care to patients. Current students will be available to answer questions and speak about their experiences during lunch.

Remote Interview
An information session on academic support, the curriculum, externship options, housing and student resources will be conducted remotely for candidates who choose this option. Touring the facility and shadowing faculty at the Foot and Ankle Institute will not be possible but can be scheduled for a later date.

International Applicants

Students from all over the world attend TUSPM. As an international student who has completed their education at a foreign institution, your coursework will need to be evaluated by the World Education Services, Josef Silny and Associates Inc. or Education Credential Evaluations and subsequently submitted to the AACPMAS.

You are considered an international student if you hold, or will need to obtain, a nonimmigrant visa, including a student visa (F-1) or an exchange visitor visa (J-1).

Supporting Materials for International Students

In addition to the AACPMAS, international applicants must submit official transcripts and World Education Services evaluation of grades if they have attended a foreign school.

Transfer Students

Students who currently attend or recently attended a school of podiatric medicine are welcome to apply to TUSPM. If you are currently attending or have graduated from a foreign or U.S. allopathic or osteopathic institution, you are required to apply following the same application process as that of a first-year entering student. Please submit all required credentials via the regular application process.

When the Office of Admissions has received all application materials, you will be considered for an interview.

Transfers Enrolled in First Year
If you are currently enrolled in the first year of podiatric medical school, you will be invited to interview through a regular admissions committee, as if you were going through the initial admissions process. Decisions in the regular admissions process are typically made within two weeks of your interview.

Transfers Enrolled in Second Year
If you have progressed further than the first year of podiatric medical school, your materials will be forwarded to the Advanced Standing Committee for review. You will be contacted through the Office of Educational Affairs for an interview.

Admissions Deadlines

Applications are processed on a rolling basis for first-year and transfer students. We encourage early application.

Priority deadline for fall: April 1
Fall: May 1
Rolling deadline: June 30
Admitted students are required to pay a nonrefundable deposit of $1,000 no later than one month from the date of the acceptance letter.
