Temple’s Main Campus is home to a range of classroom and performance facilities for music and dance students.

The Dance Department administrative offices and conference rooms are located at 1700 N. Broad St., Suite 309, Philadelphia.

Facilities

Pearson Hall

Pearson Hall houses facilities for the Athletics and Dance departments, complete with a gymnasium, pool and weight training room. On the second floor, dance students can access three spacious dance studios, a rehearsal room and a medical clinic.

Conwell Dance Theater

The Conwell Dance Theater is a fully equipped 175-seat black box theater, with a sprung wood dance floor, and full lighting, projections and sound capability.

Presser Hall

Presser Hall is one of nine buildings that houses Boyer College of Music and Dance. It is open for students 24 hours during the academic year. The building features state-of-the-art AV and recording equipment, labs and rehearsal rooms.

Presser Hall is home to 54 practice rooms, including Wenger sound-isolated practice rooms and a three-room recording studio. In addition, two of the Wenger practice rooms in Presser Hall have virtual acoustic environment effects installed. The Presser Listening Library houses tens of thousands of LPs and CDs in a wide variety of genres including classical, jazz, opera and musical theater.

Temple Performing Arts Center

Temple Performing Arts Center (TPAC) is where Boyer’s large ensembles perform, including the orchestra, wind symphony, choirs, percussion and jazz band. TPAC is also home to Lew Klein’s auditorium and Boyer’s annual MOSAIC concert during Homecoming weekend. During the school year, the center will host holiday concerts, film screenings, receptions, guest lectures and classes.

Rock Hall

Rock Hall features a 325-seat auditorium with surround sound and 6500 lumens Panasonic video projection. It is equipped with practice rooms, computer music labs, small ensemble rehearsal rooms, an audition room, a green room, and harpsichord- and harp-dedicated rooms.

Performance Opportunities

Boyer College of Music and Dance provides numerous performance opportunities for students to showcase performance and choreography in Temple’s Main Campus facilities, such as Boyer Recording Studio, Conwell Dance Theater and Presser Hall—home to a library, 110 pianos, teaching studios and much more.

Research

Institute of Dance Scholarship

The Institute of Dance Scholarship is an invaluable resource for Boyer dance students, informing them on current research and supporting their studies through a range of public events, guest seminars and collaborative research opportunities. It aims to foster advancement in the field and enrich the student experience.
