All College of Liberal Arts candidates must have completed their bachelor’s degree in a related field before applying to a graduate program.
Candidates will be asked to submit the following along with their application.
Submit official transcripts from every college and university you have attended.
A baccalaureate degree, preferably in Spanish, is required for admission. If your degree is not in Spanish, its coursework equivalent is required for entrance into the M.A. program.
Submit three letters of recommendation from faculty and professionals.
Approximately two to three pages. Include your interest in Temple’s Spanish program, future career goals, research goals, academic achievements, and any related experience.
Applicants interested in Teaching Assistantships, fellowships, or other financial support may describe special needs in an addendum to their personal statement.
Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) general test scores are required. Typical scores range from 153 to 166 in verbal reasoning and 144 to 155 in quantitative reasoning. Applicants from Spanish-speaking countries may present EXADEP (Examen de Admisión a Estudios de Posgrado) scores instead.
A current professional résumé is required.
A paper or journal article written in Spanish is required.
One course (three credits) undertaken while the student is enrolled in Temple’s Spanish M.A. program may be transferred from a program in a Spanish-speaking country. The course must be a graduate course, and it must be approved by the Graduate Advisor.
