Philadelphia has 19 TV stations and more than 60 movie houses. In addition, the city hosts multiple film festivals, and several feature films are shot here.

Film Festivals

Graduate students can showcase their thesis projects at the Diamond Screen Film and Media Arts Festival, which exhibits film productions and other media art from the undergraduates and graduates in the Film and Media Arts program. Emerging filmmakers can find additional funding and exposure opportunities through various external festivals and programs.

Careers

Graduates of the MediaXarts program are prepared to continue on toward a doctorate degree. Graduates are also prepared to pursue careers in the film and media industry, such as

  • digital animation;
  • documentary filmmaking;
  • game, app and interactive design;
  • installation and multiplatform design;
  • media production and postproduction;
  • physical computing;
  • projection design for theater, performance and architecture; and
  • writing for media.
