College of Public Health Scholarships
The College of Public Health offers different funding sources for graduate students based on academic merit and financial need. Scholarships vary from program to program. Learn more about available scholarships.
Regional Scholarships
The Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania grants annual scholarships to Pennsylvania residents who are studying nursing at the basic or advanced level and intend to practice in the state.
DNP students in good academic standing can apply for the Independence Blue Cross Foundation Scholarship if they have permanent residence in the greater Philadelphia region.

CampusRN has $15,000 in scholarships available to nursing and allied health students.
Sigma Theta Tau International provides a comprehensive listing of nursing scholarships available through organizations and nursing schools.
Graduate Fellowships
Fellowships are available through Temple’s graduate school for students with exceptional academic records. They include
- Presidential fellowships, which are reserved for only the most outstanding candidates; and
- university fellowships, which are intended to support students who demonstrate outstanding potential for success in their chosen fields.
These fellowships provide a stipend plus tuition for two years. Learn more about fellowship opportunities for graduate students.

External Funding Sources
The American Association of University Women awards grants and fellowships to students performing research in a wide range of disciplines and working to improve their schools and communities.
Ford Fellowships seek to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties. Predoctoral, dissertation and postdoctoral fellowships are awarded.
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for independent study, research and creative projects or English teaching assistantships abroad for an academic year. All enrolled students must apply through the university; see Temple's Fulbright page for more information.
Fulbright Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Award provides opportunities to doctoral candidates to engage in full-time dissertation research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies.
Harry Frank Guggenheim Dissertation Fellowships fund students in their final year of their PhD work. Questions that interest the foundation include human violence and aggression in relation to social change, intergroup conflict, war, terrorism, crime, family relationships, among other subjects.
The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation includes the Charlotte Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship, which supports the final year of work on a PhD dissertation dealing with ethical or religious values. The Wilson fellowship also includes the Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowship in Women’s Studies, which supports original, significant interdisciplinary doctoral dissertations.

The AAAS Fellowships Resources lists professional associations that often offer awards, scholarships or funding opportunities in that discipline.
The Cornell Fellowships Database is a searchable database for graduate students.
Through GRAPES at UCLA, you can search for awards from more than 600 fellowships, grants, postdoctoral awards and scholarships for applicants to graduate programs, current graduate students working on master’s theses or doctoral dissertations, and postdoctoral scholars.
The Rutgers GradFund is a searchable database for graduate students.
Federal Financial Aid
Federal Stafford Loans
Applying for federal Stafford loans requires completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). At Temple University, unsubsidized Stafford loans are available to full-time graduate students up to a maximum amount of $20,500 annually.
Federal Work-study
Eligibility for the Federal Work-study Program is based on the applicant’s need as determined by the information on the applicant’s FAFSA. In addition, students must be enrolled at least half time and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Students are paid biweekly for hours worked.
