Research Facilities

Temple’s urban setting in the nation’s fourth largest media market makes the Lew Klein College of Media and Communication an ideal center for cutting-edge research and creative work. Academic and artistic exchanges occur across disciplines here, and our talented professors and inquisitive students explore the role of communication in public life.

You’ll be able to work alone, with other students and with faculty on numerous scholarly and creative projects, conducting research, presenting at conferences and submitting to journals. Travel and research funding is available to help support your work.

Deborah Cai

Senior Associate Dean, Professor

Internationally recognized researcher and Klein Professor Deborah Cai has years of specialized experience in intercultural communication, negotiation and conflict management, and social influence. She has edited and been published in numerous scholarly outlets, including Communication Research, Human Communication Research and the Journal of Applied Communication Research. Cai—alongside other Klein professors—developed a series of virtual events to share tools and methods to cope with personal and professional conflict in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Associate Professor

Rooted in his passion for performance, philosophy and the rhetoric of social justice, Klein Professor Jason Del Gandio writes, speaks and teaches his students from a unique perspective. Pulling from his years of experience in activism and social movements, he informs students—at home and abroad—of the importance of communication skills and strategies to create social change.
