Temple’s urban setting in the nation’s fourth largest media market makes the Lew Klein College of Media and Communication an ideal center for cutting-edge research and creative work. Academic and artistic exchanges occur across disciplines here, and our talented professors and inquisitive students explore the role of communication in public life.

You’ll be able to work alone, with other students and with faculty on numerous scholarly and creative projects, conducting research, presenting at conferences and submitting to journals. Travel and research funding is available to help support your work.

Kathy Mueller

Associate Professor, KLN

Klein Professor Kathy Mueller utilizes her years of experience as an art director and designer to create unique, real-world learning opportunities for her students. During the height of COVID-19, she developed a final project for her Art Direction I class centered around the pandemic. Researched and created from scratch, Mueller’s project involved designing mock crisis brand campaigns for existing companies to show the role art directors play in shaping public perception.

Klein Professor Devon Powers has spent years studying and writing about consumer, historical and popular culture. Her latest book, On Trend: The Business of Forecasting the Future, was selected as one of the Choice Outstanding Academic Titles for 2020. She brings her passion for cultural trends and expertise in branding to her students at Temple.
