Application Instructions for Dentists with a CODA-accredited Degree

Review important information about how to apply for the AEGD program at the Kornberg School of Dentistry as an applicant with a degree from a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) dental school.

How to Apply

  1. Apply through the American Dental Education Association Postdoctoral Application Support Service (ADEA PASS). You should confirm with PASS that your application has been received, as the organization only forwards completed records to Temple for processing. 
    PASS deadline: Oct. 1 of the year preceding the expected date of enrollment. Be sure to review additional important application deadline information below.

  2. Submit the supporting materials listed below to Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry.

  3. The AEGD program does not participate in the National Matching Service (MATCH) Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program. Applicants will be notified of their admission consideration upon completion of all interview days.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants should have the following in order to be admitted to the program.

  • A DDS or DMD degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian dental school
  • Canadian or U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency status
  • Evidence of satisfactory completion of the written National Board Dental Examination Parts I and II. If you are currently a senior dental student, results from Part II may be forwarded directly to the Kornberg School of Dentistry once received.
  • Graduates from international dental schools should have equivalent educational backgrounds and standing as graduates from CODA-accredited dental schools as determined by the Kornberg School of Dentistry AEGD program admissions committee.
  • Applicants from an international dental school must also achieve minimum scores in either the TOEFL or IELTS.

Interviews

After all completed applications are reviewed, the admissions committee will send interview invitations to applicants who are being seriously considered for acceptance. An interview appointment does not guarantee admission into the program.

Application Deadlines

The deadline for completed applications is Oct. 1 of the year preceding the expected date of enrollment. 

All AEGD applicants must participate in PASS and must have their application materials submitted to PASS by Oct. 1 to allow PASS sufficient time to process their materials and submit them to Temple by the Oct. 1 deadline. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated.

Upon review of all completed applications, the AEGD Program Admissions Committee will extend invitations for interviews to those applicants being seriously considered for acceptance.

Application Instructions for International Dentists

Dentists who hold a BDS, DMD or DDS from an international dental school not accredited by CODA may apply to the AEGD program for international dentists. 

How to Apply

  • Applying to the AEGD program is initiated through PASS. Please check with PASS that your information has been received by them as they will only forward completed records to the university for processing.

  • Applicants must also submit a supplemental application.

  • The AEGD program does not participate in the National Matching Service. Applicants will be notified of their admission consideration upon completion of all interview days.

Admissions Requirements

  • The two-year international dental degree AEGD plus the Oral Health Sciences MS track requires a degree from an international dental school with equivalent education and training to graduates of CODA dental schools as determined by the Kornberg School of Dentistry AEGD program admissions committee.
